  CM cancels T’ tour

Chief Electoral Officer I.V. Subba Rao announced on Monday night that the election code of conduct has come into effect immediately in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak and Warangal where the byelections to 10 Assembly constituencies are being held. Addressing a media conference, Mr. Rao explained that the code would bar the Chief Minister and Ministers from taking any decisions, making announcements and policies from June 21 to August 2 . In line with the code, there should not be any transfer of officials in the five districts.

Asked about the fate of the decision taken by the Cabinet at its meeting on Friday to fill 10,000 secondary grade teacher posts afresh with the candidates selected under the DSC-2008 test, he said the code would clearly apply to these appointments too in the five districts. As far as the entire State was concerned, a final view would be taken after examining the issue with the Education Department. Meanwhile, with the model code of conduct coming into force, Chief Minister K. Rosaiah cancelled his visit to Karimnagar and Warangal districts on June 24 and Nizamabad district on June 25.

The CM was to lay the foundation for an Engineering College and Horticulture College buildings at Siripuram village
